- Greek: Cunning; In Greek mythology, Daedalus was a skilled Athenian craftsman and inventor. King Minos had him imprisoned in his own invention—the labyrinth. Daedalus and his son Icarus tried to escape with wings he created of wax, feathers and thread, yet Icarus flew too close to the sun and died.
