Q&A: Can you suggest some baby names for foodies?

As a pregnant woman, I find myself thinking of two things all the time: food and baby names. Which leads me to think, why not give my baby a food-inspired name? Do you have any creative culinary suggestions?

Eating and dreaming of baby names—these are some of the best parts of being pregnant! When considering a food-inspired baby name, luckily there are many tasteful suggestions for the parents-to-be.

For starters, fragrant herbs such as Sage, Basil, and Rosemary are appealing choices, while Saffron always casts a golden glow.

On the sweet side, Honey, Sugar, Ginger, and Cinnamon may be best used as nicknames or middle names, but Cocoa (or Coco) is a lovely choice for a little girl. (Just ask actress Courtney Cox.)

Speaking of celebrities, many of Hollywood's brightest stars have been making a mark on the culinary baby name train. Gwyneth Paltrow famously named her daughter Apple, while both Claudia Schiffer and Rachel Griffiths have daughters named Clementine. Soap star Ingo Rademacher named his son Peanut Kai, after an image that stuck in utero. And Huckleberry has been on the rise—country singer Brad Paisley and his wife, actress Kimberly Williams-Paisley, named their son William Huckleberry—while it's also the first name of adventurer Bear Grylls' son.

Of course we could go on and on with fun food- and drink-inspired baby names: Brie, Graham, Brandy, Cherry, Herb, Chip, Kobe, Pippin, Candy, Bean, Colby, Olive—the name menu is endless! Why not open up your favorite cookbook or favorite recipe to see what inspires you.
