Baby's 8 Biggest Time Consumers
Having a baby is an incredible experience, but it’s also one that eats up the minutes of the day unlike any other. Here are eight of the biggest time sucks that have parents wondering where their day went.
1. Baby Clothes
I’m sure they were designed by smarter people than me, but is there really a need to put a dozen freaking snaps on a single onesie? It takes me an extra minute or two each diaper change just to put my son James’ clothes back together!
2. Disappearing Pacifiers
I don’t know of any other item (other than car keys) that has the ability to disappear so thoroughly when you need it the most. I’m embarrassed to admit I spend a good ten minutes a day searching the house for James’ favorite pacifier.
Changing my son’s diapers wouldn’t be so time consuming if he didn’t have the habit of immediately going to the bathroom the second I finish putting him in a new one.
4. Packing a Diaper Bag
Before you have kids the only time you spend this long packing a bag is when you’re going on vacation.
5. Kid’s TV Shows
Too often I look up at an episode of “Sesame Street,” and then for reasons I don’t quite understand, watch ten minutes before I look away. I may even do this when my kids are out of the room!
6. Trying to Make the Baby Smile
I spend way too much time staring into my little guy’s face and making funny noises with my mouth. I can’t help myself, though. When you get one adorable baby smile you just want another one!
The constant demands of a baby both day and night leave parents exhausted. This means parents lose some of the day napping (if they’re lucky) or just staring into space in a weary stupor.
8. Cuddling Up With Your Baby
New babies need lots of cuddles from their mommies and daddies, but that’s okay. I wouldn’t trade this time for anything in the world.
