I have an 8-month-old son. He is developing normally other than the fact that he still will not sleep through the night. Some nights he will be up every two hours, some nights less. He often will just nurse for a minute or two and I can put him right down again, other times he is more stubborn. I have tried everything. We have a bedtime routine and I have tried to let him "cry it out" but he screams extremely loudly and won't stop, I live in a building and don't want to disturb anyone. I am very tired and am dreading going back to work in a few months. Any ideas?
Sleep problems can be very challenging for even the most calm, cool, and collected of parents. I've come to realize that for parents of babies (and children) who don't sleep well, it can be incredibly difficult to figure out what to do when your days are spent in a cloud of chronic sleep deprivation! While your situation definitely warrants a conversation with your baby's pediatrician, who will be able to ask you some additional questions and take your exact circumstances into account, I can tell you that the most common reason I have found for babies to not yet sleep through the night by 4 to 6 months of age and instead wake up every couple of hours rests on how they are being put down to sleep. In hopes of helping you and all of the other sleep-deprived parents out there, let me further explain.
