Your Brilliant Baby in Week 16: Improving Vision

Since you're eager to interact with your baby, roll a ball in her range of vision and watch her track it. Pull or push a toy at a reasonably slow speed, and again notice how your child will follow its movements.

Although Baby will track objects that you push or pull, when you're busy fixing dinner, he'll entertain himself by tracking his own moving hands and fingers.

With respect to this new learning about looming objects, just know that in the course of the day as you move your child around—sitting her in her infant seat and car seat and handing her from one person to the next—her ability to judge depth and distances between her and the myriad objects and people around the house and elsewhere, is constantly improving. Soon, between about four and six months, he'll grasp objects within reach; a little later, between about seven and nine months, he'll pass an object from one hand to the other.
