H1N1 by the Numbers
H1N1 has spread quickly, but it has not lived up to the frightening predictions that circulated when it was first discovered. In fact, it's still unclear to experts why so many people died from H1N1 infection in Mexico.
In the United States and throughout the world, the vast majority of people who have contracted swine flu have recovered without requiring medical treatment. That's similar in severity to the seasonal flu, which we face each year.
