My daughter is now 4.5 months old. For the last month and a half, my husband and I have been aggressively repositioning her to overcome flattening of the right side and back of head. Her flattening was pointed out by the pediatriacian at her two and four-month visits. Thank goodness it is mild and our efforts in repositioning have shown to be effective. When sleeping/napping, we place her only on her left side.
However, I've also noticed that BOTH her ears are now protruding. If you look at her from the side, they look like the letter 'C'. I would have thought that because we have been placing her on her left side, then at least the left ear would be flattened but it isn't. Both her ears were completely flat when she was born. I know that once her hair gets longer it will cover her ears up. But I would like to give her the option of having shorter hair if she desires! I've tried having her wear a hat and she absolutely hates wearing them. I also don't want to go the route of surgery to correct this. What do you advise?

At four and a half months of age, you needn't worry about protruding ears. She has many years of growth left, during which the shape, proportions, and size of her face and head will change. Re-evaluate this issue in several years' time, and by then it may not be an issue at all.
