Q&A: Should I have my baby's dilated angioma removed?

My daughter is three months old and has a large dilated blood vessel on her shoulder. Our family doctor wants to send us to a surgeon to have this looked at. Over the last few weeks this mark has become quite sore looking, swollen, and very pronounced. What can we do to prevent this from rupturing and should we have it removed by surgery?

Please listen to your family doctor on this one. Angiomas can both grow and rupture, and nothing short of surgery cures this problem.
