Immunizations and Your Child: The Lowdown on Vaccines

National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act

If your child is injured as a result of a vaccination, there is a program to compensate you for this injury. The National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program was established in 1988 as a no-fault alternative to a lawsuit for children who were possibly injured by vaccines. The program currently covers vaccinations against hepatitis B, Haemophilus influenzae type B (Hib), diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), measles, mumps, rubella, polio, Rotavirus, and varicella (chicken pox).
