Find Your Own Mary Poppins
Few, if any, parents feel truly prepared once the baby arrives. Nannies, on the other hand, know just what to do.
You Get What You Pay For
Given all that a nanny does for a family, the average wage of between $300-$400 per week does not seem excessive. Understandably, these wages vary greatly depending upon such variables as experience, geography, hours and job responsibilities. If household management is a substantial job responsibility in addition to childcare, a nanny’s weekly wage can go higher.
Childcare is no place to bargain hunt. It is up to you, the parent, to make sure that you and your children are getting what you’re paying for. As you begin your search, keep in mind the words of Glenda Probst: “You pay for quality childcare up front, or you pay for it later. But one way or the other, you do pay for it.”
