Daycare director Tammy Wright finds that having something special from home, such as a blanket or stuffed animal, can help children in a new daycare situation, especially during the "good-bye" transition. "It's important that the item be something from homeāit's a connection for them." Studies have shown that babies can be calmed when there are pictures of family members or even parents' clothing items in their daytime cribs.
