Safe Siblings: Introducing Baby To Older Children
When the baby starts crawling, and when your toddler is able to play safely with toys with smaller parts, put potentially dangerous toys out of reach. Allow your child to play with them when the baby is sleeping. Explain to her that small toys and toys with small parts are “big kid” toys that babies can choke on. Point out exactly which toys pose risks. Also show which toys are baby safe, then encourage her to select one to give the baby.
