How Moms Can Make the Most of Baby and Toddler Naptime

Slow and Steady Wins the Race

Rather than running from one half-finished task to the next, tackle things one-at-a-time.

"As a stay-at-home mom, there's not necessarily one thing I try to get done during naps each day," explains Jennifer, a mother of two girls, from Washington. "I try to choose one thing to get done throughout the entire day. For example, 'Today, I am going to get the guest bathroom cleaned … or the floor mopped … or the grocery shopping done.'"

It also helps to keep perspective. "The to-do list of a mom with a baby, or a baby and a toddler, takes four times as long as it did before having children," says Jennifer. "Plus, if I focus too much on keeping my house clean, I completely miss spending time with my kids. My job is not to be the maid. My job is to raise my children."
