Hints for Avoiding Family Passport Headaches

Passport Discounts

There is good news for travelers who've had to deal with the headaches and fees of getting their family passports. Popular vacation destinations such as Mexico and the Caribbean are offering discounts aimed at new passport holders and in some cases may even pay the costs of your passports (expect to show your receipt as proof).

The Wall Street Journal reports that travel to tropical destinations, which now require a passport, are down. They based this in part of flight capacity statistics. Previously full flights are down anywhere from two percent to 10 percent, giving your local hotel or resort plenty of incentive to help you get your passport and get traveling.

Ask when you make your reservations, or inquire with your travel agent, about any special discounts to cover passport fees.
