Devin and Leah's Birth Stories

Devin Topjians birth 1984 I was 17 , I had him in the hospitial, I came to the hospitial at 2:30pm and they gave me an enema(yuk) and then hooked me up to monitors, and then they broke the bag of waters. He started coming fast then, They wheeled me into the birthing room as his head was presenting!! Then I had to go between contractions onto a hard table, off of the cozy bed I was on. They strapped my hands down, strapped my legs to stirrups very high in the air.

And the gave me an epesiotmy, and out he came at 3:54pm. They cleaned him up, and then showed him to me, I was still strapped down, and put him into a bassenette next to me, so I didn't touch him for hours after he was born, I was put into a recovery room, and no one was allowed in for an hour. so I was alone, exept the nurses to check me.

My next child was born at home Leah Kimiko Binkleys birth 1993 I had a midwife for prenatal care, and planned on having a home birth. My water broke in bed at around midnight, and I tried to go back to sleep to get some rest before the big event, but I was to anxious so I got up, and drank juice , and ate banana bread. Read, and started counting contractions and mins., so around 5:00 am I called my midwife, who was 2 hours away. She said to call her when the contractions start to really hurt or if I feel I really need her. I had my mother visiting , and my husband was leaving for work. Well, I was listening to music and just relaxing , and talking with my mom, and we told my husband that we would call him when it was getting close, his work is 15mins. away. So , I kept walking around and going to the bathroom alot, and drinking alot. and my mom kept wanting to call the midwife, but I didn't think we needed to yet. It wasn't hurting, I was just feeling alot of pressure. Then finally I had to lay down and I could really feel that the baby was getting really low, it felt like she was right between my legs, so my mom called the midwife and my husband. It was about 10:30, and I told my mom where all the birthing supplies were, and she got them together. My husband walked in the door and I knew it was time, so I told him wash your hands put on the gloves and get over here, so he did. I was standing up, sort of squatting and leaning forward on him with each contraction. Then I put oil on my hands and rubbed some on the babys head to help her to slide out easier, and I showed my husband that you can feel her head. She was just about to come out, I was trying not to push , but letting the contractions push her out slowly, so as not to tear. I was still standing, then after a few contractions, her head was born, and I sat on a birthing stool my husband had made. A couple more contractions and she was out all the way, born into my husband's hands. He suctioned out her mouth and nose, and my mother called out the time11:04 and yelled "it's a girl", wrapped her up in recieving blankets, and gave her to m. I nursed her right away, she was very hungry, and then the midwife came at about 11:20, and she had my husband cut the cord, and he held her. I pushed once or twice to get the placenta out, and she examined the baby, and the plecenta and me, and then me and my baby took a warm herbal bath together, she loved it!!!! That is the perfect birth story, if any one who reads this has any questions about home birth, please write me.
