My pregnancy with my third child was just as great as my first, although very, very unexpected. I got pregnant when my first son was 23 months and my second son was five months old. I was shocked! I had no morning sickness, and everything was different. The whole nine months was uneventful until three weeks before my due date.
We were moving and I was packing and moving furniture. I was cleaning like there was no tomorrow and felt I could not get things clean enough. I spent the whole weekend working on the move. Sunday night I had everything done in the new house, plus had both of my children down to sleep. I felt exhausted.
My husband told me to take it easy so I took a shower and felt better, except for feeling a few twinges, but it was nothing serious. At 4 AM, I got up to make coffee for my husband while he was getting ready for work. I turned to get a cup and got a major pain and then a contraction. I called for my husband who came in to see that I was in pain. He called my mom, and she came to stay with our boys while we left for the hospital.
When I arrived I was at four centimeters. I was walking, rocking, and taking showers (two to be exact). At 3 PM I was still only six centimeters. It was going slow. My doctor left at 4 PM thinking that it was going to be an evening baby like my other two. Twenty minutes later, I was at nine centimeters so the nurse called for the doctor. Thank goodness he decided to get a cup of coffee in the cafeteria before leaving! The head nurse was getting ready to deliver our daughter and her head was already through. My doctor took over and finished the delivery. Katrina was born at 4:28 PM, weighing six pounds, five ounces and she was 21½ inches. She was born with no drugs and three weeks early!
