Patricia's Story

by Patricia

In 1993, after five and a half years of struggling with infertility, a very good doctor belonging to a clinic with the best reputation in the country, emphatically said, "You and your husband will NEVER have children together."

I was having problems ovulating and my husband had a low sperm count, a situation for which nothing could be done at the time. They told us our choices were donor insemination or adoption. We seriously starting planning for the donor insemination even though I knew in my heart of hearts that it was not right for us.

To make a long story short, my sister was praying for us and really felt the Lord telling her that we should not go through with the donor process and that He would provide our baby. Mind you, I was already on Clomid and doing the ovulation tests in order to go in and be inseminated.

After much crying and deliberation, we decided to not go through with the insemination. I had been on the Clomid for three months prior and during all that time, and though it regulated my period, I never ovulated. Thank goodness because I would have gone in to be inseminated by the donor sperm.

I called the clinic and told them that we weren't going forward and that if we were meant to be parents, God would provide for us. They basically said, "Good luck and have a good life."

I am here to testify that the next month I got pregnant. That was eight years ago and I am now getting ready to have a birthday party for my healthy seven-year-old son. What a blessing from God!

I do have confidence in the medical field; after all they are using the intelligence and science that God gave them. BUT... they don't know everything all the time. For the doctor to tell me that we would NEVER have children together gave God the opening to prove them wrong!

I did call the clinic after I found out I was pregnant and they couldn't believe it. Shortly thereafter, I received a congratulations card from the doctor and the nurse.

Do I believe that God still provides miracles? Of course! I have a sweet, loving, red-haired boy who is half of his mother and half of his father to prove it!
