Leah's Birth Story

I was 40 weeks pregnant and loving it!! On May 15,2009, I went to the bathroom. While having a very uncomfortable bowel movement, I let out a low moan. My hubby raced in and saw that my water had broken. I stood up and we got in the car. Three minutes into the trip(a forty minute excursion) the first contractions hit. They were awful. With the first few, I just held my breath, but after a while I began to grunt. I was shivering and grunting.

My husband, Peter, stopped the car on the side of the road. With his help, I discovered I was 7 centimeters!! Boy was I scared!

By the time we got back in the car I had a very weird, alien like moaning going on.

"Oh Oooh Ahhh erererer."

It was kinda creepy but it got me through til the hospital could come into view.

When we were in the hospital, they sent me straight to delivery, and I began to push. I got in the birthing tub at first the got out to try to birth on the bed. While walking across the floor, I felt an urge to push. A big urge to push. So I held onto the wall and pushed. It was a lovely sensation. My husband said I was smiling but my face was turning red. All of a sudden I felt something between my legs. My child! The doctors pulled the rest of her out, my Leah Michelle Dover. She was 7 lbs 3 ozs, 20 inches. She was born on May 16, 2009 at 12:37 am.
