| The purpose of this site is to educate and support parents, other family members and friends of prematurely born infants. Having a baby born prematurely usually frightens parents. Depending on the degree of prematurity, your newborn baby may be at risk of serious illness and even death. These pages provide information, not medical advice. Your doctor and your baby's doctor are the best sources for medical advice. This site seeks to provide you with additional information that will allow you to ask better questions of your baby's doctors and nurses, reduce your anxiety and enjoy your new baby more fully. Often the chance of a good outcome is better than you think. In this case, additional knowledge can be very reassuring. Even in the most critical situations, having a knowledge of your child's situation and knowing what questions to ask helps you adapt to the circumstances. | |
