Each year in the United States, more than four million babies make their way into this world. But just where are all these babies born?
The Scoop
In a bid to find the nation's hot spots for birth, The Daily Beast crunched the numbers to come up with 25 cities in the US that it says are places where women are most likely to become pregnant and give birth in 2012. What makes a city more convenient for conception? Calculations are based on recent US Census birth data and information from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention comparing key areas known to affect fertility: alcohol and tobacco use, percent of women who have had a Pap test in the past three years (as a sign of reproductive healthcare), and the general health of each metropolitan area's population. The full list can be found at The Daily Beast, but the top 10 most fertile cities in the US are:
10. Lewiston, Maine
9. Trenton, New Jersey
8. Fargo, North Dakota
7. Bismark, North Dakota
6. Raleigh-Cary, North Carolina
5. Minot, North Dakota
4. Cedar Rapids, Iowa
3. Kennewick, Washington
2. Provo, Utah
1. Minneapolis, Minnesota

Don't see your city on the list? Even if you live nowhere near these pregnancy-friendly destinations, pretend like you do! The lesson here seems clear: taking good care of your preconception health, no matter where you currently call home, may be the best fertility booster around.
