The Scoop
Fans of the reality show Giuliana & Bill know all too well the struggles the couple, E! News and Style Police host Guiliana Rancic, and her husband, former Apprentice winner Bill Rancic, have faced in their quest to become pregnant: the couple began in-vitro fertilization (IVF) in March 2010, and became pregnant in the spring of 2010, however Rancic suffered a miscarriage at 8 weeks pregnant. She then had an IVF transfer for a second time in November 2010, but the procedure did not result in a pregnancy and the couple decided to put further rounds of IVF on hold.
But is the couple ready to try again? That's what Rancic just announced in an exclusive with her home network. "We're definitely going to do IVF again in the near future," Rancic tells E! News reporter Cristina Gibson. "If it doesn't work, that will have been three times—but I think third time's a charm. I feel good about the third time!"
According to Rancic, the couple's doctor also agrees that they should try IVF one final time and the TV personality is determined to stay positive, despite their previous setbacks. "Yes, I was very ill for a couple of weeks," she explains of the last round of IVF. "But if I end up getting pregnant and having a baby, I'm sure I'll forget all about it."
Future Plans
It seems that taking time off from IVF for almost a year has also given Rancic a new perspective on alternate routes to having a baby. Their hopes are high, but the couple has made contingency plans if this round of IVF does not result in a pregnancy. "At that point, we will either do surrogacy or go right to adoption," she explains to E!, and adds that her hometown of Naples, Italy, would be the first place they'd look to adopt.
"I would love to find some kid in the area … someone, anyone who needs a home and give them a life here in America," Rancic says. "The thing with adoption is, it's where your heart takes you. Like when Angelina Jolie adopted from another country … How can you tell a woman where she should go look for her baby?"
