Q&A: How can I track ovulation with only one fallopian tube?

by Dr. Gerard M. DiLeo

I only have one fallopian tube, due to the fact I lost my right one in January. But I still have my ovary on that side.

How can I calculate when I am ovulating on my left side? Will an ovulation kit help me determine which side is ovulating?

No kit will be able to determine which side you ovulate from, as both ovaries "race" to ovulate first, the other falling in function when one has "won."

I see what you're getting at, wondering when you will ovulate on the side that still has the tube--you want to know which cycles are wasted when you ovulate on the side that has no tube. Did you know that you can conceive with a tube when ovulating from the opposite ovary? It's not easy, but it happens sometimes.
