After numerous tests prompted by eight months of unsuccessful conception attempts, I have been told that I am a perfect candidate for intrauterine insemination (IUI). I am confused about which day in a menstrual cycle IUIs should be done. I am monitoring my cycles, and day 12 is consistently the "peak" day, or the first day of LH hormone surge.

The day of ovulation is the best day to perform intrauterine insemination. This can be detected easily using a home ovulation predictor test. Begin by testing the urine each morning when close to the time of ovulation. When the kits turns positive it signifies release of the hormone LH which will soon trigger ovulation. The insemination should be performed the next day.
