Q&A: Was my ovary damaged during surgery?

I had a dermoid cyst removed from my left ovary about a year ago. They thought there might be one in my right ovary as well (there wasn't), so they opened both of my ovaries during the procedure. Is this likely to impair the functioning of my ovaries? I have not had a recurrence of cysts.

Unless you're on the pill, if your cycles are regular then all is well, because this means you're ovulating well.
