Success rates with in-vitro fertilization depend on a variety of factors. Some of the most important factors are age of the female, the presence of decreased ovarian reserve, the presence of obesity, and the number of embryos transferred. In general, patients who are younger, have better ovarian reserve, are not obese, and who transfer more than one embryo.

According to statistics provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), average pregnancy rates for in-vitro fertilization range from less than 5 percent per attempt to over 50 percent per attempt when going from the worst prognosis patients to the best.
