I would like to know how to go about charting my basal body temperature (BBT), and what temperature it should be and when. We're trying to conceive and I think understanding how my BBT works and how to chart it would help us plan appropriately (and maybe be more successful!).

Look at your local drug store for a basal body thermometer. This handy tool comes with very specific instructions and graphs to use in charting your temperature. There is no specific temperature that you should experience at any given time—these are different for every woman.
You will need to take your temperature and track it on a graph every month. You are looking for dips and rises in your temperature, which indicate the time around ovulation. Remember to use only a basal thermometer (not a regular oral thermometer) and take your temperature at the same time every morning—preferably before you get out of bed. I hope this helps.
