ACE Inhibitors

An ACE (angiotensin converting enzyme) inhibitor is a drug that lowers blood pressure. It prevents the formation of angiotensin II, relaxing the arteries. This lowers blood pressure and improves the pumping efficiency of a heart.

The currently available ACE inhibitors include: benazepril (brand name: LOTENSIN) captopril (brand name: CAPOTEN) lisinopril (brand names: ZESTRIL and PRINIVIL) quinapril (brand name: ACCUPRIL) ramipril (brand name: ALTACE)
