The body’s temperature at baseline, early in the AM, when it is the lowest. A record of this temperature taken daily for several weeks can be used to predict ovulation, since the temperature increases slightly just before ovulation. This method is used to time intercourse to increase the likelihood of conception and also as part of the rhythm method for preventing conception.
