Large for gestational age (LGA)

Newborn infant whose weight is greater than the 95th percentile for gestational age (infant weighs more than 95 percent of infants his same age). Being LGA does not necessarily mean that there is something wrong with the infant. It does mean that the physicians and nurses must observe the infant more closely for complications.
