Device that measures the amount of oxygen in the air. It is often used to measure what fraction of inhaled air is oxygen. Room air that we commonly breathe is 21 percent oxygen. By increasing the amount of oxygen in the air, we improve the transfer of oxygen from the atmosphere to the hemoglobin in the blood and subsequently to the tissues.
