WAHMYeast (Candida) infection of the mouth. This occurs most often in newborns, but can also affect older babies who are taking antibiotics. Thrush resembles patches of cottage cheese on the inside of the cheek, tongue, and the roof of the mouth. This is rarely a dangerous infection, but can be uncomfortable for the infant. It is treated with mycostatin, a medicine given orally. Some resistant cases require additional medicine.
