Many OB-GYN serve as primary care physicians for their patients and are viewed as such by insurance plans. During pregnancy, a strong doctor-patient relationship often develops. This relationship can be a source of confidence and trust in dealing with other health issues. Surveys have shown that women often continue to receive care from the same OB-GYN for many years.
