Stretch Marks (Striae gravidarum)

Also called striae distensae or striae gravidarum. Stretch marks are caused by stretched or torn areas of skin. They are quite common during pregnancy and appear most often on the abdomen, buttocks, breasts, and hips. After pregnancy they may fade and take on a normal skin color, but they never go completely away.
