Also called TSH, or thyrotropin, this is a pituitary hormone that stimulates the growth or function of the thyroid gland. A high level of TSH can indicate an underactive thyroid (because the pituitary keeps on trying to stimulate the thyroid but gets little response). An underactive thyroid, or hypothyroidism, can be a cause of infertility.
