Varicella / Chickenpox Vaccine
Varicella or chickenpox has become the leading cause of vaccine-preventable deaths in US children. Chickenpox is a common infection with rare but serious complications. Complications such as pneumonia, infected skin sores, and severe brain problems are infrequent, but can leave affected children permanently impaired. The vaccine should be given between 12 to 15 months, and again at four to six years old.
