Traveling with Baby Checklist

Your Baby’s Suitcase

Sunscreen Don’t be caught in the sun without protection for your baby’s sensitive skin. A hat with a wide brim can keep your little one cooler on warm, sunny days, too.
Outerwear You’ll need a coat, snowsuit, or rain coat; hat, cap, mittens, and booties for seasonal travel. Bring a lightweight sweater too even in the summer, for cooler evenings.

Blankets Blankets are great at night for sleeping, provide a soft, clean surface to put under your baby, and even be used as a shield draped over the baby’s carrier to keep the sun or wind off your little one.

Day Clothes Don’t underestimate how many clothes to bring for your baby. You’ll want one to two outfits per day (plus one or two extras).

Pajamas Pack one set of pajamas per day (plus two or three extras).

Bibs You’ll have a few of these in your diaper bag but can pack additional bibs in your child’s luggage.

Baby’s Toiletries Your little one will be looking beautiful on her trip if she has her own toiletries. Pack her shampoo, soap, brush, comb, nail clippers, and toothbrush (or gauze if she doesn’t have any teeth!).

Dish Soap A small, leak-proof container of dish soap is handy for washing out cups and bottles if you’re staying in a hotel.

Safety Items Don’t let an accident spoil your trip. Bring extra outlet plugs and doorknob covers if your baby is mobile.

Crib Sheet Even if you’re using a hotel crib, you’ll feel better having a fresh sheet from home.

Monitor Perfect for those trips to Grandma’s, a monitor gives you peace of mind when Baby’s sleeping.

Bath Toys Rubber Ducky is a fun bath time companion for older babies and can help occupy your little one while you wash him.

Swim Diapers These are essential if you’ll visit the beach or a pool.

Extra Diapers and Wipes Pack plenty of these, because you may be away from home, but there’s no vacation from diaper changes!

Nightlight This can be nice in dark hotel rooms, especially for middle-of-the-night feedings.
