A Child’s Tools for Travel Fun

by Tania Cowling

One for the Road

Take a small, sturdy dress box and glue flannel fabric to the inside of the lid. Cut a variety of shapes from felt. You can also cut magazine pictures and photos and glue these onto cardboard as backing. Placing a strip or two of sandpaper on the back will make these into story characters.

Your child is now ready to stage story scenes with the cutouts that will adhere to the flannel lid. What fun—and all pieces can be neatly stored in the box when playtime is over. This box can be easily placed into your carry-on bag, too.
