Bug Off! How to Keep Mosquitoes from Ruining Your Summer

Permethrin

There are several products on the market that contain the chemical permethrin. Unlike DEET, permethrin is more than repellent--it is a bug killer. Also, unlike DEET, any product containing permethrin should not be used on skin but is intended ONLY for treating clothing, screening as a deterrent for bugs. Permethrin can remain on clothing several days to two weeks. Do not put products containing this chemical on items children may place in their mouths.
