Time of Day and Location of Play
Many mosquitoes prefer shady, bushy areas and standing water resources. Some species will avoid open fields and excessive sunlight. Avoiding locations that mosquitoes enjoy is one way to reduce exposure. Studies have also shown that many mosquito species, including most of those known to carry West Nile Virus, are primarily active during the cooler morning and evening hours. Though that is the most inviting time for humans to come out and play as well, avoiding areas of high mosquito populations during these times of day is a good way to reduce your potential for mosquito bites.
