First read this week's potty lesson, then move on to the project below.
Your Week 4 Assignment
Create a story line about a bunny (or doll or Teddy bear) who always went pee and poop in his diapers. “Then one day, Mommy bought a potty. The bunny didn’t like it at first, but with practice he learned to go on the potty and it was ‘bye-bye diapers’, and ‘hello underwear’.”
You’re creative; you can add to the story to play out child’s situation with a beloved plaything being only one step ahead of your child as he walks the road to potty training.
Week 4 Toilet Training Tip
Be careful not to say, “Do you want to sit on the potty?” Why? Because most self-respecting toddlers will say “No!” It’s better to say, “Come on, it’s time to sit on the potty.”
If your child still refuses, resist digging your heels in and forcing the issue. Let it go, back off: You don’t want to get into a power struggle. At that tense moment, remember to bring out a toy who will comply with the task that you’re expecting of your child—your child will likely then do as Dolly did.
