7 Celebrity Moms With All Boys
Gwen Stefani is pregnant with her third child, another boy! Do we sense a new celebrity mom trend here? Find out who else in Hollywood has given birth to all boys.
Melissa Joan Hart
Melissa Joan Hart, who once stared in Sabrina, The Teenage Witch, is now mom to three boys: Mason, 8, Braydon, 5, and Tucker, who just celebrated his birthday. As for trying again for a little girl? For Hart, that’s a spooky thought.
“I’m scared of girls,” she told ABC News. “If we had a girl it would almost be like an only child in a sense because she’d be so left out! We’d have to redo our whole house… new toys and new bikes. There are so many hand-me-downs in the family! It’s awesome.”
What does Cate Blanchett do the day after being named Best Actress at the Golden Globe awards? The same thing any other mom of three boys would do on a trip to Southern California: spend the day at Disneyland! Within hours of picking up her award, Blanchett and her brood of boys — Dashiell, 12, Roman, 9, and Ignatius, 5 — were spotted riding everyone’s favorite, It’s A Small World.
Modern Family star Julie Bowen is mom to three boys — Oliver, 6, and 4-year-old twins John and Gustav. What’s life like in her all-boy household? As Bowen recently explained to USA Today, “I grew up with all girls, so to me there was no subtlety between boys — they were just dirty and yelling. To the outside, I’m sure it still looks like that because my kids are fairly dirty and loud, but John is extremely focused, Gus is sensitive and constantly trying to make peace with everyone, and Oliver is a complete ham.”
Charmed actress Holly Combs is mom to Finley Arthur, 9, Riley Edward, 7, and Kelley James, 5. What’s it like raising three boys? Two words: high energy. “They’re boys, so they need to get outside at least once or twice a day,” Combs explains. “We have horses, so they turn them out before they ride them…and sometimes, I feel like I have to turn my children out before we play! There’s lots of ball-playing and soccer in this household.”
What’s different about raising boys? According to Amy Poehler (mom of two boys — Archie, 4, and Abel, 3), “You learn a lot about men and boys by being the mother of boys, I think. My boys are still at the age where the girls in their class are sitting, helping the teacher, doing their homework, dressing themselves, and the boys are not doing that.”
Rachel Zoe has made it clear that she would love to have a baby girl to dress up and bring with her to all the fashion shows. What does fate have in store? It looks like she’s meant to have some very well-dressed sons. Zoe is now mom to two boys, son Skyler Madison, born in 2011, and son Kaius “Kai” Jagger, born in January!
Britney Spears, mom of two boys — Jayden James, 8, and Sean, 7 — is honest about the ups and downs of motherhood, no matter what your child’s gender. “As a mom, you have all these situations you go through, and you’re like, ‘What is going on? Is this normal? Is this a phase? Or what is this?’ and then you feel silly for asking questions because you think, I’m a mom, I’m supposed to know these things, but you don’t,” she told InStyle. “You’re human. To be honest, I wish I had more mom friends.” Maybe Britney can make a playdate with Cate, Amy, or Melissa Joan?
