In the Baby Zone (Again!) with Molly Sims
We already love her sense of style, but now we can identify with Molly Sims on a whole other level–as a mom! Get the scoop as Sims talks first steps, discipline and must-have binkies.
Molly Sims had plenty to celebrate this summer. Not only did the actress and model turn the big 4-0, but her son, Brooks, also passed the pivotal milestone of turning one. After celebrating, Sims and her little man traveled to NYC to shoot her guest-starring role in the CW’s Sex and the City prequel, The Carrie Diaries, returning October 25.
The last time we caught up with Sims, she was anxiously awaiting Brooks’ birth. Now, she’s ready to share her newfound mommy knowledge with BabyZone.
What’s your golden rule of parenting?
I’m the captain of the ship. If I go down, I’m going down head first. I believe in structure. I’m fair though, and I give warnings.
What’s been your best moment of parenting so far?
Brooks’ first birthday. Everyone says, “Enjoy every second, it goes by so fast,”–it’s true. I couldn’t believe that it had been a year since I was in the hospital with him. Also, walking–him taking his first steps. He wanted to walk so badly!
And the worst?
When we thought something was wrong with his eyes, it was really hard on us. Thankfully he was totally fine, but it was scary.
What’s the best advice you ever got about parenting?
A friend who has three children advised me to always follow through. We’re starting to enter the hitting and biting stage, so I’m trying to be good about repetition and following through.
What’s the one thing you can’t live without?
Brooks’ WubbaNub pacifier. It’s a binkie and lovey in one–we have about nine but he only goes for two of them. He loves the long ears on his rabbit. The Zoli Straw Cup is awesome, too.
Finish this sentence: You know you’re in the Baby Zone when…
You’re never packing light again, you’re cleaning up under every table at every restaurant, and there’s no more leaving the house in five minutes!
