In the Baby Zone with Molly Mesnick
Bachelor alums Jason and Molly Mesnick are the proud parents of a sweet and smiley baby girl. Catch up with this Bachelor success story on their journey from reality TV to parenthood.
Most fans of ABC’s The Bachelor won’t soon forget that awkward “After the Final Rose” episode where Bachelor Jason Mesnick told the world he made a mistake by proposing to Melissa Rycroft. During that same episode, Mesnick told runner-up Molly Malaney that he still had feelings for her.
Get a glimpse into their reality as Molly discusses surviving those first few months and how being a mom has changed her.
What’s your golden rule of parenting?
Do whatever you need to do in order to survive! (laughing) Parenting is the hardest job in the world! Everyone says it, but you don’t fully understand it until you become a parent yourself. If drinking 10 cups of coffee is the only thing that gets you through the day… then do it! We typically eat pretty healthy in our house, but if the day has been crazy and I’m in a hurry to get the baby home to bed… then McDonald’s it is!
What’s been your best moment of parenting so far?
This is such a tough question because I feel like it gets better and better every day! I must say, the first time we heard Riley laugh was one of the most memorable moments for me. There is nothing better than hearing your child’s laughter–it makes me feel so good when she is happy!
And the worst?
Honestly, Riley is seriously the best baby! She was never colicky, smiles a ton, eats and sleeps really well… knock on wood. I have no complaints! Every once in a while she’ll wake up for a brief moment in the middle of the night, but I don’t even mind because it means I get to see her!
What’s the best advice you ever got about parenting?
‘Do what you think is best for your child!’ The moment you tell people you’re pregnant, they feel the need to inundate you with all of the ‘knowledge’ they have about how to be a parent, but that doesn’t mean they’re always right. You are your child’s parent, so do what you think is best for them.
What’s the one thing you can’t live without?
These days… our jumperoo! Riley is in that stage where she wants to be sitting up like a ‘big girl,’ but she can’t quite do it herself yet, so the jumperoo is the perfect contraption for her! It keeps her busy for hours and leaves me hands free to get things done around the house.
Finish this sentence: You know you’re in the Baby Zone when…
You get more excited about the Target baby sale than the Nordstrom sale! Boy, have my priorities changed! It used to be all about shoes, make-up and clothes. Now it’s diapers, onesies, and jumperoos.
