Actress Kathryn Hahn—who you might recognize from Crossing Jordan, Parks and Recreation, or HBO's new show Girls—has been busy, especially since she has added the real-life role of mom to Leonard (born 2006) and Mae (born 2009) to her credits. Here, Hahn breaks down life in the Baby Zone—the good, the bad, and the hairy.

What's your golden rule of parenting?

To be present.

Describe the best moment of parenting so far.

When my son out of nowhere will say, "Mommy, I love you." And I think I could literally die. And to see the two of my kids together and [being] friends, and so in love with each other, is so… oh!

And the worst?

For a while we would call having dinner in front of the television a "special occasion" and then all of a sudden we realized we were having a "special occasion" for the sixth night in a row. We finally realized this isn't a special occasion, just lazy, lazy parenting, so that would be a bad one.

Another one was [when] my son was crying and I didn't know what was wrong, so I opened his diaper and saw that one of my hairs was wrapped around his balls. I thought I had destroyed his manhood! [laughs] I didn't—he was fine.

Best advice you ever got?

To use Nair.

What's the one thing you can't live without?

Right now, Cheerios.

… I answered the door while I was nursing my daughter with my boob hanging out for the UPS guy. And literally was like, "Thank you." I had nooooo idea!
