Every mom has a secret or two they'll never tell, but Gossip Girl's Kelly Rutherford opens up on her golden rule, worst parenting moment, and more. In fact, mom to son Hermes (born in October 2006) and daughter Helena (born in June 2009) gives the XOXO when it comes to the Baby Zone.
What's your golden rule of parenting?
I use the golden rule in that I treat my children the way I like to be treated—with love, patience, and respect.
Describe the best moment of parenting so far.
There are too many. I truly enjoy every day with my kids. They remind me what joy is—being in the moment and not taking things too seriously. Humor is a great healer and a way to educate.
And the worst?
Is when I forget the pacifier or baby wipes, or when I have not gotten enough sleep … which is usually when this happens [laughs].
Best advice you ever got?
Our children are actually here to teach us—that they are little Buddhas!
What's the one thing you can't live without?
The Little Einsteins, Diego, Dora... Those few moments when the kids are happily watching something that is actually educational and I can get the laundry done [laughs]!
Finish this sentence: You know you're in the Baby Zone when...
... you are walking around with Cheerios in your hair and you don't even know it.
