We love it when moms tell it like it really is—and that's why we're loving supermodel-cum-celebrity Molly Sims. Pregnant for the first time—and due in June!—she confesses to being sweaty, swollen, rashy, and so sleep-challenged that when she finally got comfortable on a Sleep Number® bed, she became their spokesperson!
Here, Sims shares what life's like in the pregnancy zone.
What's your golden rule of pregnancy?
The one thing I can tell you about being pregnant is people give you tons of advice—solicited, unsolicited, they just give you advice.
The best advice I've gotten is to go with your gut. I've always gone with my gut without children and I think it's really important to follow your own instincts.
Describe the best moment of pregnancy so far.
You know, I'll say—even though it's scary and surreal—when we first did the 4D [ultrasound]. It was amazing because you got to see his face—that was really shocking!
And the worst?
Well, considering that today I have a bladder infection and I woke up with a rash all over my entire body—maybe today! [laughs] I can't get my wedding rings off my finger… My feet look like Shrek's—they're unrecognizable … I feel it now! I'm sweating! It's an operation to get dressed and I'm going to burn everything that I've worn for the last six months after I have this baby. [laughs]
Best advice you ever got?
Get a good glider. [laughs] Breast milk is liquid gold—that's probably the best advice. A lot of my friends said to really "wear" your baby and keep him close, that skin-to-skin is really important—that's what I'm most excited about.
What's the one thing you can't live without?
Honestly, I'm just trying to get everything. But I'm so anxious about swaddling because for nine months all I've heard about is swaddling. I'm excited to swaddle! So I guess a swaddle product. And the next one I can't live without would be, right now, honestly, my bed and my body pillow.
Finish this sentence: You know you're in the Baby Zone when…
… you basically want to accost other mothers for their children because you are staring at them so bad. You're basically like, "I want your baby right now!"
