"It has been wonderful to be able to do something that is for both of us at the same time," says Jessica Stolzberg, a student at Baby Om yoga studio in New York. "I feel I have accomplished something for myself and my body, yet my baby is also an active participant with focus given to her and her body, too."
Carmit Bach started practicing yoga with her son Ori when he was just six weeks old. "It really provided a wonderful bonding opportunity and a way for me to take care of my fitness needs without leaving him behind," she says. "As he grew, he was able to participate in the class more, and more recently, has been very alert and seems to really enjoy himself."
"I am stronger and fitter than I was pre-baby!" says Gretchen Fleisher, another baby-and-mother yoga practitioner. "I focused on building my abdominal strength back up and ended up with a stronger stomach. I also realized the importance of my overall health—I needed to keep up with the demands of motherhood."
