Q&A: What could cause a bluish vaginal discharge?

by Dr. Gerard M. DiLeo

I am currently wearing panty liners and I have recently found a bit of a bluish discharge left on them. Almost like someone sprayed Windex on it. Not a lot, but it's strange enough to ask since I cannot find any information about it. I was wondering if you knew what that was.

Sorry, but blue has never come up before. The only thing I can think of is that your normally acidic vaginal secretions are reacting with something on the panty liners. In any event, I can't think of anything in obstetrics or gynecology that would elicit a bluish discharge.
