What's the Best Way to List Items?
The eBay website is an excellent source for help when working through the buying and selling process the first few times. After clicking on the "sell" option, you are able to go through a narrated demonstration, located under the title "How to Sell Tour." Remember to read all of the policies and understand the fees you are charged for selling your items on eBay before getting started. Sound overwhelming? Don't panic! Listing is a very simple process that the eBay program will walk you through as you list.
Here are some helpful tips for listing items:
- List your sales for one week. A seven-day sale doesn't cost anymore than a five-, three-, or one-day sale and allows more people to see your item. Sunday to Sunday is a good time to list.
- If you are unable to list a seven-day sale, try a five-day beginning on Tuesday and ending on Sunday.
- Consider the time of day of your listing. The start and end time will be the same. Remember, eBay is run on Mountain Time. Consider later time zones and what time of day you want your listing to end.
Lastly, customers like to see what they're bidding on. According to eBay, 90 percent of listings include pictures. The first picture added to an eBay listing is free of charge, and additional pictures can be included for a fee. If you don't have time to take and upload a picture right away, ad a line to your sale such as, "Photo will be added shortly." Then, add your picture to the listing the following day (once someone bids on the item, you will not be able to add a picture).
