10 Daddy-Daughter Dates with Preschool and Toddler Aged Girls
Spending time with the whole family is great, but sometimes the best way for a father to bond with his daughter is by going on a daddy-daughter date. I cherish the one-on-one time I spend with my three-year-old daughter, Annabel, and have found ten daddy-daughter dates that are great for fathers and daughters everywhere.
There are many art studios for kids where you can paint, draw, and make crafts with your daughter. Annabel enjoys tapping into her creative side, and I find it fun too!
Most dads see baseball games as ideal for father/son time, but they’re terrific for daughters too. Annabel loves ballpark food, the energy of the crowd, and the chance to clap and cheer.
There’s nothing better than sharing a tub of popcorn with your best girl at the multiplex. My favorite part? Chatting with Annabel on the drive home about her favorite scenes.
Dinner out together
A table for two is a lot of fun for both daddy and daughter. Annabel gets to feel like a big girl, and I get to see her happy as a clam. One tip: it’s best to eat somewhere with quick service so your daughter doesn’t grow impatient.
Ice cream store
Little girls love ice cream, and let’s be honest, dads do too. Daddy-daughter dates to the ice cream shop are perfect for when you don’t have a huge amount of time to spend.
Picnic at the park
I bring a cooler full of food to the park, let Annabel go crazy on the playground, then lay out a picnic blanket and share lunch. This is a guaranteed hit every time with my daughter.
Like a lot of girls her age, Annabel is crazy for animals. At the zoo I get to “wow” her with my knowledge of animals, and she gets to enjoy a kid’s show. FYI: Most zoos have daily shows for kids. Check your zoo’s schedule before going!
Not every daddy-daughter date has to be something out of the ordinary. Annabel loves to accompany me on trips to the supermarket, and I love the chance to spend a little extra time with her.
Father/Daughter Princess Ball
Many parks and recreation departments offer a night of dancing, craft-making, and dinner. Dads put on their best suit, daughters dress up like a princess, and together they have a night to remember.
Nothing excites Annabel more than putting on bowling shoes and knocking over some pins, and I love teaching her how to do it. Tip: Don’t forget to put down the bumper lanes or you might have any unhappy little on your hands!
